In short

As Taiwan's first B Corporation, DOMI Earth aligns its products and services to six UN Sustainable Development Goals — No Poverty (1), Quality Education (4), Affordable and Clean Energy (7), Responsible Consumption and Production (12), Climate Action (13), and Partnerships for the Goals (17) — through initiatives such as the Energy Prosperity Project, children's energy education, tree planting, and ESG partnerships.

DOMI Earth's Actions on SDGs: Aligning with Business ESG Sustainability Concepts

In 2015, the United Nations introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include 17 goals and 169 targets aimed at promoting economic, social, and environmental sustainability. These goals seek to foster social prosperity while maintaining environmental sustainability, ultimately creating a better world for humanity and the planet.

Achieving the vision set forth by the SDGs requires more than just government policies and initiatives. It also necessitates the participation of private enterprises, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and various other entities. By pooling resources and knowledge, and working collaboratively, we can build the future we desire.

As Taiwan's first B Corporation, DOMI Earth has been promoting energy conservation and climate action for the past years. The SDGs have always been a crucial guideline for our actions.

Our goal is not only to address our client's needs but also to drive social and environmental sustainability through the design of our products and services.

DOMI Earth's Focus on SDGs

DOMI Earth focuses on six specific SDGs:

  • Goal 1: No Poverty
  • Goal 4: Quality Education
  • Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 13: Climate Action
  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Goal 1: No Poverty

Eliminate all forms of poverty everywhere

Since 2015, DOMI Earth has initiated the Energy Prosperity Project. By leveraging corporate and government resources, we have assisted over 3,000 disadvantaged households in Taiwan to replace old, energy-consuming lighting with energy-efficient LED lights. This initiative helps reduce the high electricity costs for these households, improving their quality of life and providing hope for change, while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions for the environment.

Goal 4: Quality Education

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

DOMI Earth recognizes the importance of educating the younger generation about sustainability. In addition to assisting energy-poor households and businesses in saving electricity, we also place great emphasis on children's energy education. We have developed a series of educational programs, including the "Annual Parent-Child Green Tree Party," storytelling sessions with the "Electricity Monster in My Home" picture book, "Handmade Energy-Saving Timer" workshops, and the "Carbon Reduction Task Force" board game. These activities aim to instill energy knowledge in children from a young age, fostering the virtue of saving energy. By understanding the value of energy conservation and carbon reduction, children can influence their families and peers, creating a ripple effect of sustainable values.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all

The Energy Prosperity Project is a cornerstone initiative under Power to Change, profoundly contributing to the achievement of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7). This project focuses on replacing traditional lightbulbs with energy-efficient alternatives in underprivileged households, significantly lowering energy costs and promoting sustainability.

Energy poverty remains a critical issue worldwide, particularly in marginalized communities where access to affordable energy can dramatically improve quality of life. By providing these households with affordable lighting solutions, the Energy Prosperity Project addresses this disparity directly, fostering energy efficiency and sustainability by reducing overall energy consumption and encouraging responsible energy use practices.

In alignment with SDG 7, the project exemplifies a practical, impactful approach to making modern energy solutions accessible to those who need them the most. The benefits extend beyond cost savings; the initiative contributes to environmental sustainability by decreasing energy demand and carbon emissions, fostering a healthier planet.

Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

DOMI Earth is committed to encouraging sustainable consumption and production patterns. We work with bank consumers to convert paper bills into electronic bills, significantly reducing paper waste. Additionally, we promote the reduction of disposable items and foster a wave of consumption awareness towards a sustainable economy from the consumer side. Through these efforts, we aim to create a more sustainable and responsible consumption culture.

Goal 13: Climate Action

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

To address the pressing challenge of climate change, DOMI Earth undertakes comprehensive measures to promote sustainability and resilience. Beyond assisting energy-poor households and businesses in reducing electricity consumption, we actively engage in awareness campaigns and practical actions. Our initiatives include widespread tree-planting projects, which not only sequester carbon but also enhance local biodiversity. Additionally, we organize workshops and training sessions to equip communities with the knowledge and tools needed to mitigate and adapt to climate impacts. By fostering a culture of sustainability, we aim to drive significant reductions in carbon emissions and build a more resilient environment.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

DOMI Earth has forged strategic partnerships with various entities, including banks, to enhance their ESG reporting and sustainability initiatives. By collaborating with financial institutions, we help them meet their sustainability goals and promote greater transparency and accountability in their environmental practices. These partnerships are crucial in scaling up our impact and achieving the SDGs.
