When Bright, a student from Tanzania currently studying at National Taiwan University (NTU), began his search for an internship, he wasn’t just looking for any company. He was looking for a place where he could grow—where sustainability wasn’t just a buzzword, but a shared purpose. He was clear about what he didn’t want: an internship that only involved fetching coffee or printing documents.
“I was in search of a company that could help me improve my scope about sustainability—not just somewhere to do insignificant jobs.”
That clarity eventually led him to DOMI. After a conversation with our DOMI Co-founder Corey, Bright found his purpose aligned with ours: to actively champion sustainability and to understand how a company like DOMI helps others take real steps in that direction.
During his internship, Bright was exposed to a much more nuanced perspective on sustainability than he had seen in the classroom. He learned how sustainability can be broken down into distinct elements—how values, motivations, and systemic understanding all play a role in shaping practical solutions. In contrast to traditional coursework, which often focused on the overwhelming problems of climate change, his experience at DOMI was rooted in action, collaboration, and the belief that real change is possible.
One of the most transformative realizations for Bright was seeing how different stakeholders—individuals, companies, and communities—each have their own concerns, yet can be brought together to create shared value and long-term impact. This shift in mindset helped him better understand how to approach sustainability from a systems perspective.
“This internship shaped me into thinking clearly about what every party in the system truly cares about—and how we can solve problems as individuals while also working together.”
Bright also stepped out of his comfort zone to work with digital tools and contribute to our automation and AI-related projects. Despite his limited prior experience in tech, he took initiative and produced meaningful outcomes that supported the team. He was especially proud of being able to apply tools he had never used before and turn them into something useful—proof that impact can come from curiosity and effort just as much as expertise.
His work extended into social media and content, where he helped share DOMI’s mission and amplify the voices of our partners. Along the way, he discovered how important communication is—not just for visibility, but for building momentum and engaging others in the cause. This intersection of technology, sustainability, and storytelling became a powerful learning space for him.
“The knowledge I got feels like a new school for me—something I couldn’t easily get elsewhere.”
Reflecting on his time with us, Bright described his internship in one sentence: “Unforgettable internship experience, very thankful.” And we feel exactly the same.
Bright’s thoughtfulness, drive, and humility made a lasting impression on our team. His ability to connect purpose with action, and to bring fresh energy into everything he did, reminded us why we continue to build an ecosystem rooted in collaboration and impact.
We’re deeply grateful for his contributions and can’t wait to see where his journey takes him next.
